freighter “Banja Luka”, rented by the USSR, transporting
wheat from the USA and Canada to USSR.

I got onboard in Sicily and set off to USA and

Canada. I liked the life as a sailor and the people who

worked on the ship were great. The trip was packed with
challenges and good moments. On the way back to

Europe, we cast anchor in the port of Leningrad (today’s

Sankt Petersburg) in the former USSR and spent there
            about 45 days.

I had a great time. I remember one day when the

Russian, then communist government, organized for all
the sailors a visit to a circus. Each of the sailors was

accompanied by a girl. I never quite understood why they

took such great care of us.

I came back home again and after a short time, I
went to Canada. I worked there several years and got

Canadian citizenship. I worked and lived in Toronto. Even

today, I think Canada is one of the best countries in the

            world.
After a few years spent in Canada, I started a

company in Europe, where I am today.
