P. 166
Mendacity about feelings has always existed, but mendacity
does not bring a sense of happiness. It is like a room kept under
lock so that nobody can see its emptiness, and yet people still lie.
The material is essentially emptiness. We are concerned whether
we are appreciated or gossiped; it is important for us to
dominate, to be the object of envy with what we possess; to be in
the limelight. We are pleased when we are told we are smart and
calm. Fame only fills the room with volatile, ephemeral feelings.
The following day we fill the room again, but whatever we do, the
room is empty the next day because this system has lost its
values.
A hungry person instinctively strives to survive, it is a normal
reaction. A civilized and organized society will create
opportunities to change and improve both the society and the
individual. Today’s uncertainty motivates individual struggle that
brings about evil. The spirit, which is a sublimate of happiness,
serenity and joyfulness, will have to be promoted, expanded and
cultivated. We have to grow and develop. We have to rise to a
higher level.
It is not bravery to kill a person, it is miserable, brutal and
inhumane. It is bravery to do good deeds that will benefit both
you and the others. It is bravery when you do your best to
discover or create something that will be useful to the society.
