person examine their own beliefs and assess their validity. Its
motto was “Know thyself.”
We should use Socrates’ method of teaching today. The world
needs to discuss and enter into polemics in order to come to the
conclusion how to live in future and if we are facing life that
defies logic. Socrates’ method of revealing the truth by way of
dialectical realism is fundamental if we want to expose the
prevailing demagogical elements in the present social
relationships. The creation of the whole can not be denied
because it will bring about improved social relationships and
higher social development.
Finding the truth takes effort and sacrifice. It is essentially what
Socrates gave to philosophy and what should be done in order to
establish the whole.
Undoubtedly, there is an ongoing battle for discovery of new
truths, but there is also a battle for keeping the old ones. People
whose interests are protected by the old truth, tend to hold on to
it. Dialectical realism always exposes the truth and therefore it
should be socially acknowledged. Whenever a new truth is
reached, the old truth should step aside.
Empedocles is one of the most brilliant thinkers of all times. He
was born around 490 BCE in Sicily. He was a successful
