Mr. Joe’s family lived in Chicago. His wife worked as an
accountant for a small company. Joe was an engineer in a
construction company. They had three children who were
good students.
Maria, the eldest of the children, went to high school. The
two younger brothers went to primary school. Their house
was beautiful, the pool in the backyard was a place of
never-ending fun. At the weekends, the smell form Joe’s
barbecue spread in the neighbourhood. The whole family
was happy and satisfied.
One evening, they were gathered in the living room,
watching a film on TV. The film was interrupted by
breaking news. The upset announcer said Moscow had
been attacked by atom bomb. Joe’s family started
commenting this disturbing news. What have they done?
Who did it? What horror! - said Joe. At that moment, a
tremendous explosion was heard and the son standing by
the window saw a huge mushroom rising in the air. They
looked at each other…
