If Adam and Eve are our ancestors, it can be inferred that all the
people in the world are relatives and therefore, philosophically
speaking, a patriot is a person who should love all the people in
the world. The whole planet is a fatherland, not just parts of it.
The fragmentation of the whole is upsetting for the humans. It
creates confronting interests and this gives rise to wars and
crimes.
The current relativization of the fragmented whole is the source
of all evil and it prevents the progress of society. At the core of
this fragmentation is the individual interest, which has no real
value. Individual interest is part of the general interest. Disturbing
the nature and logic of these two things causes discontent and
engenders evil that hurts people.
Aristotle considered demagoguery as a form of establishing
democracy, which is followed by tyranny of groups or individuals.
He says demagogues rely on the masses they consider
immature; they promise to fulfill their desires with the only
intention of coming to power. According to him, demagoguery is
a practice by means of which citizens are distanced from the
truth and brought closer to insignificant issues. A demagogue
uses oratory skills to captivate audience, to incite hatred, passion
and paranoia.
